Post cards for nine songs

“Post cards for nine songs” is an artistic project that envisions the camera as a factory with a carefully thought-out process for object production. In this project, the digital camera is hacked, manipulated, and subjected to modifications that alter the intended purpose for which they were created. By hacking the recommended usage and care instructions provided by the manufacturer, I am able to create a new narrative and poetic sense.

The images obtained through this process are juxtaposed with others obtained through artificial intelligence. It is an attempt to not lose sight of the object being photographed.

Just like any production chain in a factory, there is a sense dictated by the brands of the photographic machines. My dissident approach to working with them positions me as a broken link in the production chain.

There is a common thread that contextualizes the images to be created: the song titles from Hiroshi Yoshimura’s album, “Music for Nine Postcards.”

The project includes 9 photographs inspired by the 9 song titles and a sound piece created using a spectral synthesizer that generates new sound themes based on the images.
